The problem of the plagiarism in the Urdu literature is becoming extremely serious with every passing day. This is because there are no proper laws and no proper punishments. Urdu philosophy books Many writers are now joining hands and speaking up against the problem of plagiarism in the Urdu philosophy books. Recently a writer in the UK who has produced many Urdu books on philosophy accused an Indian writer of stealing his ideas. Unfortunately, that Indian writer who stole the ideas was never punished. He simply saved himself by saying that he thought of the same ideas. The authorities do not do anything. However many writers now are trying hard to do something about such offenses. Urdu Afsana (short Stories) For the Afsana or the short stories, the most convenient thing that people can think of is to life ideas. This is because it is easy to base an entirely different short story on the same idea. Sometimes it is true that two people can have the same idea. However, the authorities and people should take notice, if a writer is consistently ‘thinking’ and ‘writing’ on the ideas that have been thought of before. It is because to be a writer one needs to introduce at least some new ideas to the masses. Urdu Novels In the Urdu novels, right now, there are three most common forms of plagiarism. These three, most common forms of plagiarism are given below. 1. The copycat writer steals the plot of the novel. He steals the plot and takes it in to a different era and/or location. 2. Sometimes the copycat writer steals the entire storyline and again changes the era and/or the location. 3. For the Urdu novels, sometimes the copycat writer copies the entire characters from other places. The character building is one the most important part of the novel writing. If a writer copies the characters, the spirit of novel writing is simply killed. Urdu poetry In the Urdu poetry the similes, metaphor and the examples are continuously being copied. It is something very bad on the part of the copycat poets. Urdu popular fiction In the Urdu popular fiction, the writers copy the storylines, the ideas, and the characters from each other writings all the time. Although, there are slight changes however, often it is very easy to tell if something has been lifted or copied. The popular fiction is very moderately priced in Pakistan. So most of the time people just ignore them, even if things have been copied or lifted. However, the people need to realize that this is a major offense and it should be highly discouraged. A simple way to discourage plagiarism is to reject anything that has been copied or lifted even in the slightest of the ways. The plagiarism is a huge offense and the people who do it should be punished very badly. Example should be set for all of the people by very strict punishments penalties, so that the rest of the people learn something.
